So Much Sanitizing

Before March of 2020 most of us did not think about sanitizing the way that we do today. Sure we washed our hands after going to the bathroom and maybe we even carried hand sanitizer around in case we touched something gross. Skip to January 2021 – COVID continues and  hand sanitizing and disinfecting are now a part of everything we do.

Good thing Eddie’s offers 2 oz sprays that provide 200 uses and 8 oz sprays that offer 800 uses per bottle.

Tips For Safely Going To The Gym During COVID

For many people COVID and the associated quarantine have resulted in weight gain and the start of the new year has many pondering how to safely shed those pounds. While there is a risk associated with going anywhere that shares so many commonly touched surfaces, following best practices can greatly reduce those risks so that you can get back on the road to fitness.

Here are the precautions that should be taken when going to gym:

  • Pack a mask and Eddie’s Clean Hands in your gym bag. Many gyms are providing hand sanitizer but it is best to bring your own. Eddie’s uses 75% alcohol, exceeding the recommended amount. Not to mention that using the gym’s hand sanitizer exposes you to germs on the dispenser.
  • Maintain social distancing guidelines of at least 6 feet between yourself and other gym members. To make this possible, many gyms are limiting capacity to 50-75% depending on state guidelines.
  • Limit the indoor group fitness classes you choose to those that are low intensity such as yoga and Pilates. High intensity classes such as cycling and Zumba increase the number of breaths you take, which could let more respiratory droplets collect in a room.
  • Wipe down free weights, weight machines and cardio machines before use with Eddie’s Clean Hands which also doubles as a multi-purpose disinfectant in addition to being a hand sanitizer.
  • Sanitize your hands before and after you use each piece of equipment.
  • Refrain from touching your mouth, nose or eyes while in the gym. Touching these areas of the face after touching a contaminated surface can put you at risk for contracting COVID.
  • Upon returning home, toss your gym clothes directly into the washer and then sanitize with your Eddie’s Clean Hands.

Keeping these tips in mind and a bottle of Eddie’s Clean Hands close by is the best way to get back into the gym. Shop our 40% off sale today to take the first step to preparing to reach your fitness goals!

Masks 101: A Guide To Wearing, Washing and Storing

One of the biggest changes in our lives that has resulted from COVID is the introduction of face masks to our daily lives. You likely never leave home without one now. While we all know that wearing a mask helps prevent the spread of the virus, there is a lot more to know about caring for your face mask to ensure efficacy. The following steps will help you to make the most of wearing a mask:

  1. Wash your hands or use Eddie’s hand sanitizer before putting on your mask.
  2. The mask should cover your nose and mouth and be secured under your chin. The mask should fit snugly against the sides of your face.
  3. Do not touch the mask while it is on, this can spread germs from your hands to the mask. If your mask does not fit correctly and requires frequent adjustment you need a new mask. If you need to touch your mask use Eddie’s 75% alcohol hand sanitizer before doing so.
  4. Keep a spare mask to replace one that becomes wet from moisture in your breath, snow, or rain. Store your wet reusable mask in a plastic bag until you get home and can put it in the laundry.
  5. When removing your mask, handle it only by the ear loops. Fold the outside corners together and place your mask directly into the washing machine. Always sanitize your hands after touching your mask.
  6. If you need to remove your mask before you get home always store it in a paper bag to keep it clean between uses.
  7. Masks should be cleaned at least daily. You can include your mask with your regular laundry. Masks should be dried completely in a warm or hot dryer.

There is a lot more to wearing a mask than you probably knew but it doesn’t have to be overwhelming. Unless you do laundry on a daily basis you likely need several masks to last you throughout the week and you should get in the habit of sanitizing your hands before and after touching your mask. Eddie’s 2 oz travel hand sanitizer is 75% alcohol and perfect to take on the go with your mask. Shop today to save 40%!
